Accessibility

Veterans in Media & Entertainment (VME) wants vmeconnect.org to work for everyone who visits it, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology. Many of the veterans we serve live with service-connected disabilities, and this site should serve them as well as it serves anyone.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most widely used for websites in the United States.

What we are doing

  • In September 2026 we reviewed every public page of this site with automated testing and hands-on checks of color contrast, image descriptions, headings, forms and keyboard use.

  • We are fixing what that review found, starting with text contrast, descriptions for images, a "Skip to main content" link, and labels on icons and embedded videos.

  • We will review the site again at least once a year and whenever we make major changes.

Accessibility options on every page

Select Accessibility at the bottom of any page to:

  • make text larger

  • switch to high contrast

  • use a font designed for readers with low vision

  • underline all links

  • stop animations and movement

  • add more space between lines

Your choices are remembered on your device. These options add to, and do not replace, the fixes we are making to the site itself.

Known limitations

  • Some features come from other providers: membership sign-up, sign-in and event registration (MembershipWorks), payments (Stripe) and embedded videos (YouTube and Vimeo). We cannot change all of their code, but we will work with them and help you another way if something does not work for you.

  • Older news posts and some event flyers are images of text without full descriptions. We are adding descriptions, starting with current events.

Tell us about a problem

If anything on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, email info@vmeconnect.org with "Accessibility" in the subject line. Tell us the page and what went wrong. We will reply within 5 business days and get you the information another way while we fix the problem.
